Under the UNEP Green Climate Fund Project “Enhancing Early Warning Systems to Build Greater Resilience to Hydro-Meteorological Hazards in Timor Leste,” the Center for Human Resources Development of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (PPSDM MKG) of BMKG conducted an AWS site visit and operational support activity in Dili and Liquiçá, Timor Leste, from 24–30 November 2025.
This initiative aims to strengthen the Direção Nacional de Meteorologia e Geofísica (DNMG) in preparing for AWS installation and long-term maintenance. The activity combined classroom-based technical briefings with hands-on field training, enabling participants to apply their skills in real-world conditions.
In the classroom, participants learned installation and operations/maintenance (O&M) basics, including site readiness, installation workflow, routine inspections, troubleshooting, and the importance of maintenance planning and documentation. The field component allowed participants to observe and assist in installation tasks, putting their classroom learning into practice.
A total of 20 DNMG staff participated in the activity, including 12 men and 8 women.
